My son, be attentive to my wisdom, listen to my understanding, so that you may keep the reflection, and let your lips keep the knowledge. For the lips of the stranger distil honey, and her palate is sweeter than oil; But in the end it is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. His feet go down to death, his steps reach the grave. In order not to consider the path of life, she is wandering in her ways, she does not know where she is going. And now, my sons, listen to me, and do not stray from the words of my mouth. Get away from the path that leads to her house, and do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your strength to others, and your years to a cruel man; (Proverbs 5: 1-9)
In the above verses, the Lord specifically addresses men by explicitly recommending them to move away from the alien woman, that woman who is not theirs - to guard against adultery. The last verse is rather particular and attracts my attention.
Why avoid intimate relationships with a stranger?
Here is the reason: "Lest your years and your strength become the property of a cruel man ".
How can one's vigor (brilliance, dignity, glory) and the years of a man become the property of a cruel man through an intimate relationship with a stranger?
To understand this, we must know that there is always an exchange during intimate relationships.
The intimate relationship binds us, binds us to the person with whom we are united. Click to tweet
Consequences of adultery
When you have intimate relationships with a person, you become one flesh with that person. (1 Corinthians 6:16) Our body, our soul unites with this person. One unites his soul and thus his life to someone else and becomes in a way the property - the slave - of that person. (1 Corinthians 6:15) In marriage, no problem ... it is the very place that God has prepared for this type of union. But apart from marriage ... it's a danger!
The consequences of adultery are just terrible. Having an intimate relationship outside marriage with a person means being tied to that person. It's empowering that person on our life. It is to heal oneself, to prevent oneself from functioning at its maximum, to fulfill one's destiny, to manifest the glory that God has hidden in us. It's sabotaging your future. Why ?
Depart from the way that leads to her home, and do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your strength to others, and your years to a cruel man ...
If you sleep with a woman out of wedlock, you will belong to her; it is enough that she goes then to sleep with a "cruel man" so that your vigor, your strength, your energy, your dynamism, your glory, your brightness, your years are completely aspired by someone else and that your life around in circles. You have no idea of the number of men and women whose future was beheaded because they opened the door to adultery.
Your life may change because of the sexual partners you have had, even for one night. I often receive messages from women whose husbands have fallen into adultery and these women always bear this testimony: " I do not recognize him anymore ... He has changed ... He says and does things he did not do before ... " Some add: "It tarnishes ... "What's going on? Someone is emptying it ...
There was an emotional, spiritual transfer between him and the woman he slept with! He is no longer only in connection with this woman, but potentially also with the past and future lovers of this woman. And if she is possessed, it is very likely that he has also inherited the demons that torment her!
What madness! What a mess ... for a few minutes of pleasure!
For the lips of the stranger distil honey, and her palate is sweeter than oil; But in the end it is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Adultery always begins with exchanges of honeyed, sweet words. This is part of the seduction game. But in the end, the words of this stranger are sharp as a two-edged sword, a sword that cuts in all directions, wounding the soul and the body; destroying everything in its path.
Everyone is a slave to what triumphed over him. (2 Peter 2:19)
The slave of sexual immorality sacrifices his honor, his vigor, his strength, his reputation, years that could have been peaceful, productive, and happy to someone cruel, leading him to poverty, to ruin: financial ruin, emotional, moral, physical ... even eternal for those who do not repent.
As for the cowards, the unbelievers, the sinners, the abominable ones, the murderers, those who live in sexual immorality, the witches, the idolaters and all the liars, their share will be in the lake of fire and of sulfur. This is the second death. (Revelation 21: 8)
The more I meditate on this, the more I discover the horror of infidelity - adultery - and how the enemy uses it to chain souls, steal, asphyxiate and destroy families. The more I think about it, the more I am horrified by the damage of infidelity.
Ah God help us and enlighten us on this!
Can we experience restoration after adultery?
Yes, even if things will never be the same again. It will certainly be discussed in other articles. In the meantime, I invite you to visit the section infidelity from the blog to find out more.
